Could you chair our patient participation group?
We are looking for a new Chair to take over in March or April 2026. If you think this could be you, please contact us on the below methods.
What is a Patient Participation Group?
The Manor Practice has a face to face Patient Participation Group. The group meets on a Monday Lunchtime approximately every 6 weeks to discuss practice activities.
You may be asking, what is a Patient Participation Group?
This is a group of patients working with a practice to:
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of services
- Foster improved communication between the practice and its patients
- Help patients to take more responsibility for their health
- Provide practical support and help to implement change
Each group determines its own activities according to the needs of the community and the practice itself.
Patient Participation Group’s work by building a relationship between the practice and its patients that breaks down barriers and shares information.
The Manor Practice PPG Members are:
Mrs Susan Kay (Chair)
Hello, I’m Sue, Chair of this Patients Participation Group and have been for the last 5 years. This is my last term; I will be stepping down in March/April 2026. Prior to being Chair, I have been an active member of the group since 2009, so I have a lot of experience in how the group performs. I have a profound hearing loss, caused by Mumps when I was 4 years old. I am a Self-employed Carer and also a Gardener. Prior to this, I worked with dDeaf and Deafblind people within Birmingham, Solihull, and Staffordshire.
I will advocate for equal and fair awareness, communication, and access to patients who face challenges.
If you have any questions about the group or to find out more, please contact us via our email address below.
Mrs Angela Cornwall
Mr Richard Austin
Mrs Amanda Hume
I am Amanda Hume and I am a relatively recent patient of the Manor having switched after lockdown due to frustrations with my previous practice, where I was also on the PPG. I worked all my life in the public sector – NHS and local government – and am now retired. I have several voluntary roles including Sutton Coldfield Stroke Club Organiser which brings me into contact with many who have complex medical needs. I feel I can act as a two way conduit between these people and the practice.
Mrs Perdeep Muthi
Hello, my name is Perdeep, and I am a member of the Patients Participation Group (PPG) at this surgery. With over 12 years of experience working for the NHS, a background in teaching nursing and previous experience in social services, I have a deep understanding of healthcare from multiple perspectives. As both a professional and a patient myself, I understand the challenges of accessing healthcare services. I am passionate about supporting patients and ensuring they receive the best possible care. If you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance, I am happy to help. Please feel free to reach out – I’m here for you.
Mr Bill Grove
I am currently retired, but I have a history of being a Combat Engineer with 6 years of worldwide service and also as a Registered Nurse covering Mental Health and General Nursing in the UK as well as Tasmania, New Zealand, Australia, Zimbabwe and Saudi Arabia. I can contribute experience that I have gained in working with people who have alcohol and other drug problems, neuro surgical/medical conditions and mental health needs. I also completed English National Board training in Care of the Dying and I am currently a member of the Royal British Legion.
